Performing Rights Licence
Used By Schools And Drama Groups
Antic Mind Publishing’s abridged Shakespeare scripts have been used for school and drama group performances in the UK, USA and Australia, with some schools returning year after year.
If your school, drama group or youth theatre company would like to stage one of the adapted scripts, please request a performing rights licence before the performance takes place.
When You Need A Licence
You need a performing rights licence if you are staging one of our abridged Shakespeare scripts for an audience.
This includes school productions, drama club performances, youth theatre productions, festival performances, public showcases and ticketed or non-ticketed events.
You do not usually need a licence for normal classroom reading, rehearsal, private study or internal lesson work where there is no audience performance.
If you are unsure whether your planned use needs a licence, please get in touch before the performance.
Which Scripts Are Covered
Performing rights licences are available for Antic Mind Publishing’s abridged Shakespeare editions adapted by KJ O’Hara.
This currently includes the Shakespeare Shorts for Schools and Performance range, including Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice and Othello.
If you are using another Antic Mind Publishing title and are unsure whether performance permission is needed, please contact us before rehearsals begin.
